Mechanical Pressing: Sunflower seeds are crushed to release the oil. 

Solvent Extraction: A solvent, like hexane, is used to extract the oil from the seeds. 

Refining: Crude oil undergoes further processing to become refined edible oil, which includes steps like degumming, deacidification, decolorization, and deodorization. 

Uses:

Edible Oil: A common cooking oil, used for frying, baking, and salad dressings. 

Industrial Applications: Used in the production of margarine, mayonnaise, and other products. 

Other Industries: Used in the production of paint, plastics, lubricants, diesel fuel, soap, and detergent.
